Disk SpeedUp from Glarysoft is a completely free tool to analyze, defragment and optimize disk space that enhances your computer performance. This freeware is very easy to use and comes without any toolbar or adware.
Smart Defrag, Defraggler, DiskTuna, and Auslogics Disk Defrag are other useful defragmentation programs available for free.
Disk SpeedUp offers some essential functions like defrag the disk, defrag a file, defrag a folder, analyze the disk, defrag and optimize, automatic shutdown the PC when defrag completed, boot time defrag, etc.
Apart from the above-mentioned features, you can configure advanced settings under options.
Once you installed and run the app, you will find that this software is divided into 2 parts: Defragmenting tasks and Configuring settings.
After launching the app, you can see all the drives and their capacity limit, free space, and fragmented space and status in the list. You can select any of the disk drives and perform an analysis to evaluate the defragmentation status.
Once you defrag any of the local disks, it shows the results in the Report tab, which includes the file name, the number of fragments, the size, and the files’ path.
Boot Time Defrag is a feature that permits to defrag of the hard drive before Windows starts, which under normal conditions cannot be defragmented since they’re in use while Windows is running. It can be enabled through options.
Disk SpeedUp utility also allows you to schedule the program to run daily, weekly, or monthly.
For optimizing purposes, you can move large files to the end of the drive.
You can configure the following under optimization:
- Minimum file size: You can choose from ten file sizes from 10-100 MB.
- Files that were not accessed last month: Any file that was not accessed in a month will be automatically moved to the lower portion of the hard drive.
- Files in the Recycle Bin: All files under the Recycle Bin will be moved.
- Files in the selected types: You have options like Archives, Movies, and Disk Images.
As you can see above, there are many useful options under the Disk SpeedUp tool to make your PC faster. It is small in size and can defrag the files/folders as well as whole hard drives.
