Vodafone has launched a new Cat.9 Mobile Wi-Fi router, dubbed as R230. It is re-branded from ZTE MF980. The device measures 122 x 65 x 10.6mm and weighs 105gms. It is built with Qualcomm MDM 9240 chipset, 256 MB RAM, and 512MB ROM.

On Cat.9 LTE network, the Vodafone R230 can provide download speed up to 450 Mbps. It is backward compatible to LTE Cat.4 (DL 150 Mbps), HSDPA (DL 42.2 Mbps) and EDGE/GPRS Class 12. It can provide upload speed up to 50Mbps (LTE FDD), 5.76 Mbps (HSUPA) and EDGE/GPRS Class 12.

The R230 comes with 2200mAh polymer battery that can provide up to 10 hrs of internet usage on its WiFi and 350 hrs of standby. It also features 1,44” LCD screen to monitor the battery, WiFi, carrier, network, SMS, etc. LTE 800/1400/1800/2100/2600, UMTS 850/900/1900/2100 and GSM 850/900/1800/1900 operating frequency bands are supported.

Based on Linux platform, the R230 features dual-band WiFi 802.11b/g/n/ac 2.4GHz,5 GHz and micro USB 3.0. It can connect up to 8 WiFi-enabled devices simultaneously.
