As said earlier, Vodafone has launched two Mobile Wi-Fi routers, the R218 (R218z) and R218H. The R218 (R218z) is ZTE make router; whereas R218H is a Huawei re-branded.
The Vodafone R218h measures 92 x 58 x 12.8mm and weighs <95g. It comes in only while color. There is three status LED available to indicate the WiFi, SMS, and battery status. It also operates on Linux platform, whereas HiSilicon Balong 711 is fitted inside the device. It has only 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM.
It is a low-cost router, which comes with 1500 mAh Li-pol battery. It a Cat.4 LTE router that can provide download speed up to 150Mbps and upload speed limit is 50Mbps. It is also backward compatible to UMTS (DL 42.2Mbps and UL 5.76 Mbps) and EDGE (DL 296 / UL 177).
The R218H can operate up to 6 hrs on 4G and provides up to 300 hrs standby on the 3G/4G network. LTE B1/B3/B7/B8/B20, UMTS B1/B8 and GSM 850/900/1800/1900 operating frequency bands are supported by this modem. It also supports WiFi and can connect up to 5 WiFi-enabled devices simultaneously.
