Samsung has unveiled Galaxy Xcover 3, which is expected to be showcased at the CeBIT trade show, scheduled between March 16 and 20 in Germany.
Sammy Hub claims that the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 will be launched with a price of EUR 275 (Roughly Rs. 18,000) and will be available to buy starting April.
The main highlight of the Galaxy Xcover 3 is it meets US MIL-STD 810G requirements for surviving adverse temperature, humidity, rain, and altitude conditions. It is also dust-proof, shock- and water-resistant with IP67 certification and can survive being dipped in up to 1-meter water for up to 30 minutes with covers slightly closed.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 comes with physical buttons for home, multi-tasking, and back button. It also has an “Xcover key” that turns on the flashlight, while a double-tap on it opens the camera app.
The new Galaxy Xcover 3 rugged smartphone features a 4.5-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display and runs Android 4.4 KitKat OS, which is further upgradeable to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and coupled with 1.5GB of RAM.
The 8GB of inbuilt storage of Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 is further expandable via microSD card. The 5-megapixel rear camera of the device supports underwater shooting mode, and a 2-megapixel front camera is also on-board for selfies and video chatting.
Connectivity options in the Galaxy Xcover 3 include 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, and Micro-USB. Sammy Hub notes that it also includes the Samsung Knox suite of mobile enterprise security solutions. It is 9.95 mm thick and weighs 154 grams. A 2200mAh battery backs it.
