Lava has announced a new smartphone, dubbed the Iris X1 Atom. The handset will be available across retail stores, multi-brand outlets, and e-commerce portals from next week in India with a price of Rs 4,444.

The new Lava Iris X1 Atom features a 4-inch WVGA (800 × 480 pixels resolution) touchscreen display,  powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor that runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS. The company has also promised for Android 5.0 (Lollipop) in the future.

The Iris X1 Atom houses a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and PureCel sensor. There is also a VGA front-facing camera for video calling. The dual-SIM (WCDMA+GSM) smartphone features dual-standby functionality. It supports Smart Swipe, a 4-way gesture/shortcut, Smart View that lets you use two fingers to rotate the images in the gallery), Double Tap to Wake up, Active Shot to click photographs in one click, and more.

The Lava Iris X1 Atom is equipped with 512MB of RAM, and also 4GB of internal storage is expandable via memory up to 32GB. Connectivity options include a 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, and GPS. A 1750 mAh battery backs it. It will be available in Silver, Black, Silver, and Black gold colors.
