Xiaomi is celebrating the 5th anniversary and has announced the Redmi 2A smartphone in China. It is a variant of the Redmi 2 and comes with same 4.7-inch HD touchscreen display, but this is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Leadcore L1860C processor instead of Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC.
In terms of specifications, the Redmi 2A runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS with MIUI 6 on the top. It houses an 8-megapixel rear camera (BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, Omnivision sensor, 1080p video recording) with LED flash and also boasts a 2-megapixel front-facing camera (720P HD video recording supports) for selfies. The dual-SIM smartphone also offers dual 4G LTE standby.
The Redmi 2A features a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core LCI L1860C processor, coupled with Mali T628 dual-core GPU. It is equipped with 1GB of RAM and the 8GB internal memory is also further expandable with up to 32GB of microSD card.
In terms of connectivity options, the Redmi 2A include 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and 3.5 mm sound-jack. It is backed by a 2200mAh Li-ion battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2A comes in White, Dark gray, Bright Yellow, Light Green and Pink variant colors. It is priced at only 599 Yuan (Roughly US $97 / Rs. 6,000), but will be available on only 499 Yuan (Roughly US$ 80 / Rs. 5,000) in China from April 8th. No details about global roll out yet.
