Unofficial bootloader unlock for Asus ZenFone 2

383

Congrats to all; there is an unofficial bootloader unlock method available for the Asus ZenFone 2. A crafty XDA Developers member achieved the feat, allowing users to develop custom ROMs for the popular smartphone.

You can unlock the bootloader all on your own if you’re running the latest 2.19.40 firmware. The latter is not available for all ZenFone 2 units out there, so a little bit of patience is still required. Rooting the Intel-based device is also necessary.

When you reboot, the boot screen should be white instead of black, indicating the bootloader is unlocked. Keep in mind this process is not reversible (at least right now), and you can probably break things if you’re not careful enough to unlock Asus ZenFone 2.

Instructions for unlocking the bootloader are available at the source link below.
