On 27 Jun 14, Toshiba announced a new budget tablet, Excite Go, with a tag price of $110 (Roughly 6,600), but it can be yours in the first week of July for $99 (Roughly 5,950).
The Toshiba Excite Go is a 7-inch Android 4.4-based tablet, starting at just $109.99 MSRP. Encased in a stylish Satin Gold finish, the Excite Go is light and compact, weighing just 12.5 ounces. The tablet’s capacitive multi-touch display features 1024×600 resolution.
“Consumers love handheld Android tablets as they offer portable entertainment at accessible prices and can be easily added as an additional device in the home,” said Philip Osako, senior director of product marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “The Excite Go is yet another example of Toshiba’s ability to provide affordable tablets with the latest version of Android, competitive features like Intel processors, and solid build quality.”
Armed with a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM, the Excite Go runs on Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the-box, features Java. With wireless display support, users can stream even copy-protected premium content on the tablet directly onto a TV screen. The Excite Go also comes pre-loaded with a full version of OfficeSuite Pro (a $14.99 value).
A single charge on the Excite Go provides up to 8 hours of general use or up to 6.5 hours of video playback. Additionally, the Excite Go comes equipped with up to 16 GB of internal storage, a Micro USB port, and a MicroSD card slot capable of supporting 128 GB SDXC cards.
Notably, there is no camera in this Toshiba Excite Go. WiFi 802.11 n, 3.5mm headset-jack, MicroUSB, single SIM, and 2G are the main connectivity options.
