Toshiba has launched a new tablet, the Encore Mini, with a tag price US $119.99 in USA. It can be purchased from its website. It will be available in Germany, France, and UK also, but later this year.

Toshiba Encore MiniThe new Toshiba Encore Mini features a 7 inch (1024×600 pixels) touchscreen display and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 OS out-of-the-box. It is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735G processor with 1 GB of RAM.

At 0.43-inch slim, it weighs 12.5 ounces. Toshiba Encore Mini houses 2 MP rear and 0.3 front facing camera. It comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage and a microSD card slot. The company is also offering 1TB of OneDrive free storage to users with this tablet.

In terms of connectivity options, it  includes micro USB 2.0, WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0. Toashiba is also offering a one-year subscription of Office 365 Personal.

  1. FYI, the display resolution was “boosted” to 1280×768 since a lot of the Modern/Metro apps will not display on 1024×600. I suspect that this was done in software with Toshiba-proprietary Windows drivers as I recall one attempt at changing the resolution to 1024×600, and encountering the message about the Modern/Metro resolution restriction. Also, the OS is Windows 8/8.1 for Intel PC’s, not Windows Phone.
