Toshiba Encore 2 8-inch Windows 8.1 Tablet Launched with a Tag Price $199

Toshiba has announced the Encore 2 8-inch variant model, along with Encore 2 10-inch and Excite Go. Encore 2 8-inch has been priced at $199, and the 10-inch variant model price is $269; both run on Windows 8.1 operating system. However, the Excite Go tablet is based on Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

The Toshiba Encore 2 (8-inch model) sports 10.1-inch diagonal screen size, features a bright HD (1280×800) multi-touch display.

The tablet is equipped with stunning visuals, superior sound, and pre-loaded apps like Xbox Music and Video, Kindle Reader, Skype, and a one-year subscription to Office 365.

Encore 2 tablets feature an elegant Satin gold matte finish, measuring 0.4 inches thin; the 8-inch Encore 2 weighs less than a pound (367 gms).

Powered by the quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F processor, coupled with 1 GB of RAM, the Encore 2 tablet runs on Microsoft Windows 8.1 OS out-of-the-box.

The tablets offer up to 10-hour battery life for general usage and 8 hours of video playback. Stereo speakers plus Dolby Digital Plus audio provide an immersive audio experience, while ultra-fast 802.11n Wi-Fi offers speedy streaming and smooth browsing. Encore 2 tablet additionally make it easy to enjoy content on compatible HDTV’s with a built-in Micro HDMI port and wireless display support right out of the box. For students and mobile professionals, Encore 2 device also includes TruCapture, an app that works in conjunction with the integrated cameras to capture and correct snapshots of whiteboards, blackboards, and books, so the contents are sharp, clear, and legible.

Encore 2 tablet also includes a 1-year subscription to Office 365 Personal, giving you access to full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook with the ability to work online and offline and sync between devices when connected to OneDrive.

The Toshiba Encore 2 tablet can be configured with up to 64GB of onboard storage and feature a microSD card slot supporting microSDXC cards up to 128GB as a Micro-USB 2.0 port for connecting to external devices and charging.

The Encore 2 tablet provides an amazing video chat experience with an HD webcam of 1.2 MP resolution and a 5MP rear camera with auto-focus.

This tablet also comes with a single SIM; however, there is no information about 3G.
