Sony has launched a new flagship smartphone, dubbed as Xperia A4 (SO-04G), for NTT Docomo (carrier of Japan).
Notably, the Sony Xperia Z1f (SO-02F) was released as Z1 Compact, and the Xperia A2 (SO-04F) was released for Xperia Z3 Compact last year, so it may Xperia A4 will be released as Xperia Z4 Compact soon.
The Sony Xperia A4 features a 4.6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) Triluminos Display and is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AC) processor that runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS. Its back has a matte finish.
The Xperia A4 houses a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with a Sony G lens, f/2.0 aperture, custom 1/2.3″ Sony Exmor RS image sensor, BIONZ image processing engine, 1080p video recording, and there is also a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera is available for selfies/video calling.
The Xperia A4 is equipped with 2GB of RAM, and the 16 GB internal storage is further expandable with up to 128 GB MicroSD card. It measures 128 x 66 x 9.1 mm, and its weight is 129 gms. It has IPX5,8 / IP6X rating for dust and water resistance.
In terms of connectivity options, the Sony Xperia A4 includes Xi LTE, WiFi 820.11 a/b/g/n/ac , Bluetooth 4.0 with APT-X, GPS/ GLONASS, MHL and NFC. It packs a 2600mAh battery that features STAMINA mode.
The Sony Xperia A4 (SO-04G) comes in Grey, Pink, Blue, and White colors. It will be available from NTT Docomo from mid-June 2015. However, there is no word on pricing yet. Sony has also introduced Xperia Z4 (SO-03G) and Z4 Tablet (SO-05G) for NTT Docomo.
