Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Limited Edition smartphone by collaborating with Marvel. It comes with vibrant red and gold Iron Man-themed S6 Edge, packed with 64GB of internal memory, wireless charger and clear cover. Other specifications are same as its original variant. It will be available in Korea from the official online store from today (May 27) and is priced at 1,199,000 Korean Won (about US $1081 / INR 69,300).
The company has announced that only 1,000 units of this special edition variant will be sold, with serial number stamped on the back of the device. It is also expected to land in China and Hong Kong in June.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Limited Edition features a 5.1-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) QHD Super AMOLED dual edge display with a pixel density of 577 ppi, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 2.1 GHz octa-core Exynos 7420 64-bit processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Limited Edition runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS. It comes with Samsung Pay payments methods, after the company acquired LoopPay. It has also fingerprint sensor similar to Apple’s TouchID and heart rate monitor.
In terms of camera specs, the smartphone is equipped with a 16 megapixel rear camera, that features dual LED flash along with f/1.9 aperture and Optical Image Stabilisation. It has also a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. Users can click pictures with ‘Pro’ mode which has the capability to shoot images in RAW format and can also control shutter speed. Samsung has also worked with their gallery app and they have made it more user-friendly. It is only 7 mm thick and weighs 132 grams.
In terms of connectivity options, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Limited Edition include 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS, GLONASS, microUSB 2.0, infrared and NFC as connectivity options. The smartphone is powered by a 2,600 mAh non-replaceable battery under the hood with fast charging. It also comes with new wireless charging.
