Puran File Recovery is a freeware app for personal use, which can be used to recover deleted/lost files/partitions. This app can recover the data from formatted disks too. It can recover almost everything detected as a drive-by Windows can be scanned irrespective of its file system. You can recover data from Hard Disks, Pen Drives, Memory Cards, Mobile Phones, CDs, DVDs, and other storage mediums.
According to the official website, Puran File Recovery is compatible with Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008/7/8, including 64-bit and 32-bit versions, but in my test, it is working with Windows 10 too.
It comes with a simple interface with a potent recovery engine. This tool is a perfect combination of speed, accuracy, and simplicity.
There are three types of scanning available: Quick Scan, Full Scan, and Deep Scan. If you don’t select Deep Scan or Full Scan, this software will run in Quick Scan mode.
If you cannot see files in Quick Scan, it is recommended to go through Full Scan or Deep Scan.
Deep Scan also does a quick scan and lists the entire free space of the selected drive for the predefined image, video, audio, document, etc., file formats. It is a byte by byte scan and hence can take a lot of time.
In similar ways, Full Scan also does a quick scan and scans for the Total Space. If the Find Lost Files option is also selected, it scans for lost partitions as well.
The option ‘Find Lost Files’ scans for lost file records. When this option is combined with Full Scan, it also scans for lost partitions. You may sometimes see files that you do not recognize at all, and these files are actually random data on your disk falsely detected as files. It is a result of a less strict algorithm to get maximum records. Just ignore them.
“Scan Custom List” option, when combined with Deep / Full Scan, it scans the selected drive for a user-defined format list, which you can see by clicking EDIT on the main window. Adding or editing formats is strictly for advanced users only.
