Nvidia Launches 8-inch Shield Tablet with Tegra K1 chipset For Gamers

Nvidia -the Graphics card manufacturer has announced its most awaited slate, called it Shield Tablet. The slate is available in two storage variants, 16GB (WiFi) and 32GB (WiFi & 4G LTE). This Nvidia Gadget (16 GB variant) can be your starting at $299 (Approx Rs 18,000) for pre-order. However, the 32 GB variant is priced at $399 (Approx 24,000) with the notify me button.

Nvidia Shield – the ultimate tablet for gamers, features an 8-inch (1920×1200 pixel) multi-touch Full HD display. It is powered by NVIDIA Tegra K1 192 core Kepler GPU, 2.2 GHz ARM Cortex A15 CPU with 2GB RAM.

The slate comes with front-facing stereo speakers, dual bass reflex port with a built-in microphone. It is available in two variant storage model, 32 GB (WiFi+4G LTE) / 16 GB (WiFi-only).

802.11n 2×2 Mimo 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Mini-HDMI output, Micro-USB 2.0, memory card slot, microSIM, and GPS / GLONASS are the main connectivity options in Nvidia Shield Tablet.

Its motion sensor is featured with a 3-axis gyro, 3-axis accelerometer, and 3-axis compass. The slate talks about gaming features of SHIELD wireless controller compatible, NVIDIA GameStream, NVIDIA ShadowPlay, GRID Cloud Gaming Beta, Console Mode, and Gamepad Mapper.

Nvidia Shield Tablet houses a 5 MP rear camera with autofocus HDR and a 5 MegaPixel frontal camera with HDR. It supports 4K Ultra-HD Ready video.

Device measurement is Weight: 13.7oz / 390g, Height: 8.8in / 221mm, Width: 5.0in / 126mm and Depth: 0.36in / 9.2mm. The best part of this slate comes with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS and supports SHIELD software upgrades directly from NVIDIA.

The handset comes with preinstalled software like Google Play, NVIDIA SHIELD app, Trine 2: Complete Story, Multi-language Handwriting Recognition, NVIDIA Dabbler, JusWrite, Evernote, Adobe Reader, and Camera Awesome.

Its handset comes pre-unlocked and can be used with AT&T and TMobile networks in North America. It features LTE, HSPA+, 3G, 2G, GSM, and EDGE networks worldwide. It supports LTE: Bands 2,4,5,7,17 (1900, 1700, 850, 2600, 700) and HSPA+: Bands 1,2,4,5 (2100, 1900, 1700, 850) in North America, however, outside it supports LTE: Bands 1,3,7,20 (2100/1800/2600/800) HSPA+: Bands 1,2,5,8 (2100/1900/850/900) operating frequency. The firm also focuses that in certain regions, band 1 and voice support is enabled.
