The local giant in the cell market, Celkon, and Micromax plans to set up manufacturing facilities in Telangana to meet the users’ increased demand for their handset.
The Telangana government senior official confirms that the Celkon is set to open its new unit next week. And another one, Micromax, is in the planning stage. It is expected that Micromax is waiting for the new industrial policy of the state.
While, new industrial policy launch on Friday, the PTI official said‘’ Micromax would disclose the details regarding new plant capacity and investment’’. Micromax firm had recently requested the state to help facilitate the project in identifying land and other small issues.
But yes, Celkon is set to launch its facility in Medchal about 25km from Hyderabad next week. According to the company senior official, the new unit will be inaugurated by Telangana State Minister for IT Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR).
Initially, Celkon’s unit will begin with four production lines and will look to enhance capacity afterward. But the company is still silent about specifying the investment for the plant.
Y Guru Chairman and Managing Director Celkon Mobiles said: “We are very pleased to be one of the first companies to unveil plans in setting up the manufacturing unit. He also added, ‘’this unit will boost our ability to meet the demand…as well as contribute to the overall ‘Make in India’ revolution promoted by the government of India.”
Mr. Y Guru said Celkon was one of the early movers in envisioning new technology in the country and has been actively participating in the state and center to bring about a supportive ecosystem that can enable handset manufacturing home country.
