Kyocera aims to take top position with their newly announced KDDI Torque G02 that is designated as the world’s first smartphone that can deal easily handle seawater. The smartphone can follow you into the briny deep and even help you capture some undersea life with a specially designed 13-megapixel camera module to better your skills as an underwater photographer.
The Torque G02 is designed so that it can withstand water pressures at depths of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. It’s water, and dustproof has IPX5 and IPX8 waterproof performance. In terms of specs, the G02 features a 4.7-inches (720p HD) IGZO LCD.
The Kyocera Torque G02 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 quadcore processor that is clocked at 1.4GHz with 2GB of RAM. It is equipped with 16 GB of internal storage and supports up to 128 GB of storage with memory cards.
In terms of connectivity options, the Kyocera Torque G02 includes Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, and NFC. It also ships with the latest Android Lollipop (5.1) operating system. 13 MP shooter on the device’s backside, while a 5MP front-facing camera is also available.
The smartphone packs a 2910 mAh battery that is also worth highlighting. Kyocera Torque G02 will be available in early July and comes in three color variants – green, red and black. Pricing is yet to be announced. The company also mentions that it will ship with a belt clip accessory.
