Jolla – the smartphone company from Finland has announced the Jolla Tablet today, which is the world’s first truly crowdsourced tablet.
The Jolla Tablet features a 7.89-inch (2048 × 1536 pixels) touchscreen display with 330 PPI. It is powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor and runs on Jolla Sailfish OS 2.0 out-of-the-box. It houses a 5-megapixel rear camera with support of 1080p video recording and also a 2-megapixel front-facing camera onboard. It measures 203 × 137 x 8.3 mm and weighs 384 gms.
The Jolla Tablet comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slot (up to 32GB). The main highlights of this slate is, you can install Android applications in addition to the native Sailfish OS apps. In terms of connectivity options, the tab includes 3G, Dual Band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is also backed by a 4300 mAh battery.
The Jolla Tablet is priced at USD 189 (Roughly Rs 11,700) for the first 1000 Indiegogo backers and U $199 for the next 1000. It will be shipped by the second quarter of 2015. The device will be available in European countries as well as Norway, Switzerland, United States, India, China, Hong Kong and Russia.
