Jivi JSP 20 has been launched in India via Amazon for a price Rs 1999. This is Android-based cheapest smartphone in India available for pre-order online, with a free gift of flip cover. It will be shipped in India from starting 25 Sep 14.
Delhi based firm has launched a new smartphone, Jivi JSP 20, which is running on old Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS and powered by 1Ghz single core processor with 128MB of RAM. It also comes with 256MB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB. It is a dual SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone features 3.5-inch OGS (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display.
The Jivi JSP 20 houses 2-megapixel rear camera with flash and there is no front-facing camera is available for video calling. It supports English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu and French languages and also has pre-installed apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, Youtube etc.
The phone is backed by 1350 mAh battery and measures 11.6 x 0.9 x 6.3 cm with 95 gm weighs.
“The intent was clear. We want to make available a good quality smartphone at an extremely affordable price, we are doing this on very thin margins,” Jivi Mobiles CEO Pankaj Anand told PTI.
He also added that the firm will bring newer devices in the coming weeks powered by the latest Android KitKat operating system.
“This is an entry-level device for those looking to upgrade. This is in sync with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative,” he said.
Asked how the company intends to reach users, who may not have access to Internet to purchase online, Anand said the firm will conduct on ground activities to help them.
“We will have people on ground, across colleges and other places to help people purchase the phone. Also, we will launch newer devices offline as well, this is just the beginning,” he added.
