InternetOff lets you Turn On or Off the Internet connection in Windows PC

591

Broadband is very famous in India, and we all prefer a dial-up connection at home. Since the latest broadband plans are for unlimited usage and we don’t care about data, we do turn off the internet on our devices. Most of the company is offering a FUP (Fair Usage Policy), due to which we have to suffer low internet speed, after a fixed amount of usage. To extend that high-speed data period, all have to use it judiciously. InternetOff for Windows PC helps us turn off Internet connection with a single click from the system tray and extend your data usage.

My Opinion about InternetOff

InternetOff is a freeware for Windows that lets you toggle or turn off the internet connection on your computer with just a click. One can turn off the internet through various ways, like switching of ADSL router, manually going into connections and disabling wireless adapter, or disconnecting a connection. But if you want a few extra features, then you must install InternetOff. You can install InternetOff to save data if you are not on an unlimited data plan.

Once installed, InternetOff runs in the background as a service and ensures the state of the internet connection, as decided by you. You can disable the internet by simply hitting the small globe icon and then hitting the ‘Turn Off’ button, and that is all.

While turning on the connection, you are offered five options, namely:

  1. Turn on for 5 min
  2. Turn on for 15 min
  3. Turn on for 30 min
  4. Turn for an hour
  5. Just turn on

Once you select the appropriate option, the time remaining to disable the internet connection would be displayed in a small label which can be moved around as per ease.

You can also disable the “Internet Left Time” box from the Settings and tweak a few other options. If you don’t want someone else to enable the connection, you can prevent it by setting a password. However, there is a workaround as anyone who really needs access to the internet could break the security by killing the InternetOff service from the task manager and then manually enabling the internet adapter.

Overall, the InternetOff is a simple and specific tool that solves the purpose of fast enabling and disabling internet connection. It is only 2 MB in size but is free to download and offers a few extra features.

The InternetOff is compatible with Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1; however, it is working fine in Windows 10 in our test. You can use it on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows PC. You can download InternetOff from here.
