Those days are no more when we were only run Windows from the hard drive inside our computer. Now, you can install and run Windows operating system from your USB disk too. If you want to carry your Windows PC, then carry your USB disk, not the whole desktop PC or laptop. If you want, Windows 10/8/7 can be powered up from a USB stick or a USB hard drive; it is now possible. Once the hardware and software are available, everything will work fine.

WinToUSB

Over the internet, many software’ are available for running Windows OS via a USB flash drive. However, today we’re going to talk about a software called WinToUSB. I am not sure it is the best, but yes, it will fulfill your need.

Before proceeding with the steps, first, download the WinToUSB from the official website (size approx 5-megabytes). Make sure you have a Windows ISO file on the computer’s hard drive or a CD.

For installing Windows OS on your PC, you should get at least a 32GB capacity USB drive. Now, connect your USB disk to the PC, and if you have the ISO on the hard drive, click on the icon on the left that says, “ISO.” After that, click on the small icon beside the search box to locate the ISO image. If everything goes according to plan, the Windows ISO should pop up under the Operating System category. From there, click on the “Next” button below.

Since you’re installing the operating system on a USB stick, it will take some time to complete, depending on the USB disk’s speed.

If you have a CD / DVD instead of an ISO file, follow the same procedure, but this time, click on the CD-ROM icon instead of the ISO icon.

And what about the third Icon? If you’re interested in cloning your current installed operating system, this is the Clone icon you’ll be required to click on.
