How To Restore Graphical Boot Options Menu In Windows 8?

You must be aware of the new graphical boot menu of Windows 8, which is also called Hybrid Boot. Unlike the boot menu of previous Windows versions (i.e., Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7), Windows 8 boot menu can also be navigated with a mouse, keyboard, and touch. The new boot menu lets you access a range of tools and options right from the boot menu, including Reset PC and Refresh PC features.

Users who have already installed Windows 8 in dual boot with Windows 7 probably have noticed that the old black and white boot menu was replaced with the graphical boot menu interface. If more than one person shares your computer, it may happen that someone has disabled the graphical boot menu of Windows 8 / Windows 8.1.

Do you love the new hybrid boot menu of Windows 8, follow the simple steps to get it back:

1. If you are running Windows 8 in dual boot with Windows 7, you first need to set Windows 8 as the default OS. And if you are not in dual boot, you can safely skip to the step 2 directly.

2. Open Command Prompt with administrator privilege. To do this, switch to the Start screen, type CMD and then press Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys to launch an elevated command prompt.

3. Execute the following command in the command prompt window :

bcdedit /set {current} bootmenupolicy standard

Enable Graphical Boot Menu in Windows 84. Exit the Command Prompt and reboot your PC to see the graphical boot menu.
