Apart from the new “Quick Access” view in the File Explorer of Windows 10, it also features an Office-style ribbon. The Ribbon of File Explorer was introduced first in Windows 8 so that the numerous Explorer commands can be more prominently displayed when you need them. There are plenty of users who do not like the File Explorer Ribbon and prefer to use Windows 7 Explorer’s classic toolbar.

This freeware application is compatible with 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems, including Windows 8 and Win 10 Anniversary Update. All you need to do is run the Exe file (32-bit or 64-bit) and then click the Disable Ribbon Explorer button. It will prompt a message that “You have to log off to see the changes. Log off now?”. Click Yes to make the changes. Once you log in again to your PC, you will see that ribbon is disabled on Windows file Explorer.

Ribbon Disabler disables Ribbon in the File Explorer only and preserve it for Paint and Wordpad. Ribbon Disabler modifies explorerframe.dll but makes the backup, so it is safe to use.

You can download the latest version of Ribbon Disabler from here.
