For users who have been using the Internet through mobile or data card in 2G, the 3G dongle must want to know the remaining data balance to utilize it better. Some operators use the SMS system to get the remaining balance, but some use the USSD command, which can be dialed through the mobile phone or dongle software. Some of the modems are having the USSD option in their dashboard to check the balance.

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) – USSD protocol term is used in Cellular / Mobile Service by GSM cellular telephones to communicate with the service provider’s networks.
