Celkon has launched a new Campus-series smartphone, dubbed as Campus A35K Remote. It is priced at Rs 3,199 for India and will be available to buy via online and offline retailers across India. The company is also offering a 16 GB MicroSD card with the handset as a promotional offer.
The Celkon Campus A35K Remote smartphone’s main highlight is its built-in IR blaster capable of functioning as a universal remote and the preloaded app Peel Smart Remote. According to the company, besides being a remote control for the TV and set-top box, the Peel Smart Remote app can also control the functionality of DVR, DVD player, air conditioner, and other home entertainment devices & appliances. Last month, Peel announced that various smartphone makers, including Celkon, will preload its Peel Smart Remote app.
The Celkon Campus A35K Remote is powered by a 1GHz single-core processor and coupled with 256 MB of RAM. It features a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display with 320×480 pixels of resolution. The built-in 512 MB storage is further expandable via up to 32 GB via MicroSD card.
The Campus A35K Remote smartphone houses a 3.2-megapixel rear camera and boasts a 0.3 MegaPixel front-facing snapper for selfies/video calling. The phone includes 3G, FM Radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, micro-USB, Mobile hotspot, A-GPS, and 3.5mm audio jack in terms of connectivity options. It also has dual-SIM (WCDMA+GSM) with dual standby functionality.
Celkon has already launched its first manufacturing facility in India, located in Medchal, Telangana. The manufacturing unit is 30,000 square feet in area and is ready to start production.
