Barnes & Noble and Samsung unveiled a new co-branded tablet called the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook that will replace B&N’s own Nook tablets.
The tablet can be your for $179 after a $20 instant rebate, the same entry price of the non-branded Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.
For the first time, the Nook will have a front- and rear-facing camera as well. The company is also offering more than $200 in content from the Nook Store, including books such as “Freakonomics”, TV shows like HBO’s “Veep” and free 14-day magazine trials, plus a $5 starter credit.
Barnes & Noble says it will continue to make and sell its $99 Nook GlowLight e-readers and provide customer support. Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook can be purchased in Black and white variant colour in US. It measures 7.36″ (187 mm) x 4.25″ (108 mm) x 0.35″ (8.9 mm) dimensions and weight 9.74 oz (276g).
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook sports a 7-inch touchscreen display with 1280 x 800 Pixel Resolution and 216 ppi . The company also says “The LEGO Movie now available on NOOK Video”. It is packed with unknown size battery which is rated to 10 hrs general usage.
Galaxy Tab 4 Nook comes with 8GB of internal storage, which is further expandable with upto 32GB of memory card. Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n), Micro-USB 2.0, GPS, GLONASS and 3.5 mm headset jack are main connectivity options.
The slate houses 3 MP rear camera and also a 1.3 MP front facing camera for video calling and selfie. It is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM. The tablet is running on Android 4.4 KitKat OS out of the box. It has Compass/ Magnetometer, Proximity and Ambient light sensors also.
